The Office of Research and Health Sciences is not currently accepting applications for the Centenary Plan Program.
Review Process
Applications that are complete and responsive to this announcement
will be evaluated for merit by the Faculty Research Council. The Faculty
Research Council will provide a prioritized list of recommendations for
funding to the Vice President for Research and Health Sciences based on
the review criteria described below. The Vice President for Research and
Health Sciences will make awards based on the Faculty Research Council
recommendations and available funds. Review Criteria
- The extent to which this new position(s) enhances the
University’s capacity for research and education, such as
strengthening existing facilities, instrumentation, networks, and
partnerships
- The potential of the proposed position(s) to cultivate and
sustain an independent research program
- Clear documentation that the position(s) is new and does not
serve as a replacement.
- The potential for the proposed position to strengthen research
in an area that is a priority for USC.
- An explanation of how the position will have a positive effect
on the existing faculty, University culture and/or resources.
- Ways in which the scientific and academic environment in which
the position(s) will be hired contribute to the probability of
success.
- In the case of Junior CP faculty, clear articulation of a plan
for mentorship.
- A budget that clearly illustrates matching and ongoing
commitment of the Department and College to the CP position.
- A detailed and clearly articulated plan for the long term
sustainability of the CP position.
