Review Process
Applications that are complete and responsive to this announcement
will be evaluated for merit by the Research Council. The Research
Council will provide a prioritized list of recommendations for funding
to the Vice President for Research and Health Sciences, based on the
quality of the proposals per the review criteria. The Vice President for
Research and Health Sciences will make awards based on Research Council
recommendations and available funds.
The following criteria will be used to assess proposals:
- Feasibility of successfully completing the research project
- Opportunity for the student researcher to learn appropriate
research techniques and methodology from the project
- Intellectual merit of the research and the contribution it makes
to the field
- Probability of the research resulting in a significant
publication, exhibit, or performance
- Faculty mentor’s level of support/recommendation
- The completeness of the proposal and the extent to which it
follows the guidelines specified on the application form.
- Student transcripts
Note: Preference given for completion of a research gateway course
such as UNIV 201 or equivalent (acceptable courses are at the
discretion of the fellowship committee).
