Award Administration
Awardees will be required to submit a web-format final report 30 days
after completion of their project. The report should contain a brief
summary of (1) activities performed and (2) a final budget statement
describing how all funds were used. Failure to submit the required
report will make awardees ineligible to receive future funding from the
Office of Research and Health Sciences. The final report should be
e-mailed to vpresearch@gwm.sc.edu.
Note: In the case of Category I funding, a grant application to an
extramural funding agency must be submitted by 30 days after the project
end date.
- Expenditures – Established university procedures must be
followed in expending funds. Special attention should be paid to
policies and procedures relating to Purchasing, Travel, and
Personnel. Salaries for faculty on the Columbia campus may not be
charged. Any cost overruns that occur will be charged to your
departmental or another account.
- Extensions: Faculty may request in writing a one-time,
six-month, no-cost extension. At the end of the extension, faculty
will no longer have access to any remaining funds.
- Compliance Issues - If the project includes the use of
humans as research subjects, the faculty member is responsible for
ensuring that the use of these subjects is approved or exempted by
the IRB. Likewise, if vertebrate animals are used in the project,
the faculty member must have a valid IACUC approval number. The
faculty member is also responsible for compliance with USC, state
and federal requirements relating to the use of radioisotopes and
biohazardous materials.
- Publications - Any publications produced as a result of
this award must contain an acknowledgment of USC’s support such as:
“This work is partially supported by a grant from the University of
South Carolina, Office of Research and Health Sciences Research
Funding Program.”
